Who doesn’t want to be healthy and in good shape? Well, all of us do. But in the rigmarole of life, when we are busy getting our lives in order, sometimes attention to our own selves takes a back seat. We get so tied up with daily routine that it sometimes becomes challenging to look after our health and well-being.

Years of neglect takes a toll. The result is piles of weight. What we see in the mirror does not excite us anymore. But there is no need to be disheartened. One month of consistent effort can give exemplary results. Yes, the keyword is ‘consistent’. Informed lifestyle changes, correct diet, moderate amount of exercise can bring us back on track. 1. Control what you eat

This is really important. Whenever you go food shopping, try to lay your hands on fresh produce. Pick up dairy, greens and fresh seasonal fruits. Avoid packaged foods because they contain a lot of salt and other preservatives which pile on pounds on the body. Fresh home cooked food is the healthiest option there is. Avoid red meat for a month. Stick to chicken. Try to give up white sugar and use plant based sweeteners and honey.

2. Eat the right carbs

Carbs are an important part of our diet. Giving them up completely could be a wrong choice to make. Avoid refined carbs completely. Stick to multi grain cereals. 5. Exercise your way to a hot body

Exercising is mandatory if you want to have your desired body shape. A 40 minute walk in slow-fast-slow pattern will work out your body like a dream. But remember that toning of muscles only happens in a gym. Work those muscles with the right weight training at least four days in a week under a certified trainer. Keep yourself well hydrated and sweat it out and nobody can stop you from having a super body. Skipping and cycling are other sure shot measures of losing weight. Pick up an exercise routine that suits you but follow it religiously for best results.

6. Sleep really well

A good sleep is as significant as exercise. Hit the bed in time so that you clock in eight to nine hours of good sleep. Make sure you have a warm or cold shower based to the weather in your area, dress in comfortable nightwear and slip into a clean bed. Switch off all lights and keep away your cell phone at least an hour before hitting the bed. Keep a pot- pouri of crushed lavender on the side table as it is known to induce good sleep. Alternately you could also sprinkle a few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow. Sleep your way to good health.
